We hear quite a bit about survivors of German war crimes, but when a survivor of Allied atrocities dies, this fact often goes unmentioned. This is an exception - an obituary for Susan Schumann, born in Berlin, died in Oregon at the age of 72. The horrors of her childhood are presented in a dry, tasteful way, especially compared with obituaries which try to make political capital:
