Even real hate crimes are cynically used to try to restrict our freedom by Jay Knott (03/20/12) ⇌ (Exaggeration of Hate Crimes)
A Gardian hack tries to use a series of racist murders in France to amalgamate opinions with murder:
"Today in Toulouse we have been given a horrific illustration of where such delirious cynicism can lead"

He claims that expressing the opinion that there are too many immigrants coming into Europe "leads to" shooting black soldiers and Jewish children. Obviously, if this were true, that opinion should be outlawed. Fortunately, it's not true; it's him who is being "cynical".
POSTSCRIPT 21 March. It turns out the killer is probably a Muslim extremist, not a white nationalist. If that is so, I wonder if we'll see contrition in the Guardian for jumping to the wrong conclusion.
