Treehugger women sue the police for seducing them by Jay Knott (12/17/11)       ⇌ (Feminism)

I have every sympathy for the environment and the women's movement and none for the police. But I can't help laughing at this example of illogical green liberal whining. Cops infiltrated the green movement in the UK, and in many cases, had relationships with some of its adherents. Not only are the gals in green annoyed with the boys in blue for infiltrating their movement, they are even more livid about being duped into relationships with them.

"Eight women who say they were duped into forming long-term loving relationships with undercover policemen have started legal action against police chiefs, alleging that they have suffered intense emotional trauma and pain."

I'm sorry, but if you are going to infiltrate a movement, you might as well infiltrate its members while you're at it. It's the former one should be trying to prevent. 'Emotional trauma and pain' is a common complaint of members of both sexes. Police infiltration and manipulation of political movements is a different problem, and it's much worse in the USA, with entrapment, provocation, plea bargaining and wiretaps.

'Alleging that they have been assaulted, the women say "there is no doubt that the officers obtained the consent of [these women] to sexual intercourse by deceit"'. Have they never heard the phrase "All's fair in love and war"?

The top brass in the police force are angry at their undercover agents having relationships with green women, because it looks kind of sleazy and unprofessional. If anything, it weakens the attempt by the pigs to undermine the environmental movement in the eyes of the moralists who tend to support it.

Here are my original sarcastic comments about the case:
