London Blitz not as scary close up by Jay Knott (12/10/12)       ⇌ (Freedom)

This map in the Gardian shows every bomb which fell during the London blitz. At low resolution, London looks covered in bombs. But as you zoom in, you can see just how hopeless the Luftwaffe's strategy was. The pattern is random, which means that most bombs didn't kill anyone (there's more empty space in a city than you think). Scary though it was, London could mostly just carry on regardless. Once Göring had switched his efforts from trying to destroy the RAF to trying to destroy everything, the Battle of Britain was a damn skunk.
